Red Garnet Beads & Buttons Presents the:
“Red Garnet Challenge”
Official Guidelines & Details
Red Garnet Beads & Buttons would like to invite you to participate in the first annual “Red Garnet Challenge”!

PRIZES:
  • All finalists will receive a ribbon. First place winners in each category will receive a $20 Red Garnet Beads & Buttons gift certificate and Best in Show will receive a $50 Red Garnet Beads & Buttons gift certificate.
CATEGORIES:
    • 1. Stringing--One necklace or bracelet that is uniquely created with basic stringing techniques
    • 2. Seed-Beads--One piece of wearable jewelry created using any stitch, weave, braid or stringing pattern you choose with seed beads and/or bugle beads as your predominant material.
    • 3. Non-Wearable-- One piece that is three-dimensional or pictorial in creation made using any bead related media, stitch, weave and/or pattern that you choose.
    • 4. Wire--One piece made predominantly from precious metal and/or craft wire (no stringing wire, crimp tubes, cord, silk, etc. may be used).  Beads may be used but must be strung and/or wrapped using wire as defined above.
    • 5. Giving for Good-- This category is a unique way for Red Garnet Beads & Buttons customers to become involved in helping out women in need in the Snohomish County region. For our charity, we chose the “Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County” in Everett, Washington (www.dvs-snoco.org).

The beaded submissions for the “Giving for Good” category should highlight women in some way. Tell a story, legend or myth; express a thought or image; or just let the thought of the feminine be your muse. Your imagination is the limit—you may use stringing, wire work, seed-beads, or other forms including beads! When you submit your beaded art for this category, we would love to have a written description of your inspiration or story around the piece, as we are sure others will want to know.

All entries for the “Giving for Good” category become the property of Red Garnet Beads & Buttons and, in turn, donated to the Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County to be auctioned off at their annual fundraising event in 2011.
